Cititour Review:

Cafe Steinhof would be a great addition to any neighborhood. In this case the neighborhood is Park Slope, Brooklyn. The cafe offers European style comfort food at very comfortable prices that keep customers coming back for more. At the bar there are signiture drinks like Sour Cherry and Elderblossom Martinis, but most folks come for the selection of Austrian beers. There's Gaffel Kolsch, Widmer Hefeweizen and Kostritzer Black on tap. On our visits we enjoyed tall pints of the Jever Pilsner (Psssst... you might also want to check out happy hour when these fine beers are half price). Most people tend to come to Steinhof for one or two things - the Bratwurst and Kielbasa served with sauerkraut and potatoes, or the Wiener Schnitzel, a humongous piece of tender veal with a crisp coating that arrives with roasted parsley potatoes and cucumber salad. It's a dish that might easily feed two, but you'll want to keep it all to yourself. And you can't beat the price with most entrees ringing in at under 15 bucks. The only disappointment on our visit was the smoked pork loin which was a tad too salty. If you still have room for dessert after that Schnitzel there is Viennese Ice Coffee made with vanilla ice cream, espresso and lady fingers, or you may want to try some ice cream alongside a dish of chocolate crepes. We loved everything about Cafe Steinhof, but they may want to think about ditching the scary crow that greets you at the front door.
