Chef Michael White has returned to where it all began. His newest restaurant, Costata, is located in the same exact spot as hit first New York City restaurant, Fiamma. This contemporary Italian steakhouse boasts lots of wood, including beamed ceilings, and sixteen abstract paintings and prints by London-based artist Nasser Azam. But it is all about the food and not just steak. Pasta dishes, like risotto with a seafood ragu and Garganelli alla Fiamma with speck and truffle cream, are already drawing rave reviews. There are fresh oysters from the east and west coasts, and crudos ranging from marinated razor clams with fennel and soppressata to fatty tuna with lemon, olive oil and sea salt. Lobster All'Amatriciana has the look of a deconstructed lobster roll, minus the roll, with horse radish, spicy tomato and bacon made from pig's jowls. Of course you will also find steak. All of the beef is 100% black angus aged for a minimum of 40 days. A NY Strip, Ribeye and 40-ounce Porterhouse will set you back about $45 to $60 dollars. The steak drawing the most attention is the Costata, a 44-ounce Tomahawk Ribeye weighing in at $59 per person. Butters and sauces to accompany your beef come in flavors like black truffle, puttanesca, bordelaise and creamy horseradish. Costata is the perfect spot for a special night out or a power dinner amongst corporate titans. A meal here could easily top $125 a person, minus cocktails. But sometimes, you've just got to live a little. - Thomas Rafael
