Cititour Review:

Far away from a subway, in a area unknown to most New Yorkers sits one of the best restaurants in New York City. Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen, a New American restaurant is acclaimed by restaurant critics everywhere. Some of those recent accolades include being named the 18th best New York restaurant of 2012 by Zagat and receiving a 2013 Michelin star, making it the only Michelin-starred restaurant in the borough of Queens.

The restaurant features an open kitchen where you can see Danny Brown himself whipping up dishes in the back. Danny Brown is regarded as one of the best chefs in the world and opened up his own Wine Bar and Kitchen after cooking at the Cub Room in SoHo. And the restaurant does not disappoint with its nicely-sized portions and fast and attentive service.

Everything here tastes extremely fresh. An Organic Red Beet Salad ($13) appetizer could have easily served as an entree. The goat cheese and almonds complimenting the beets perfectly.  It was a great beginning to an exemplary meal.   As for the entrees, the Confit of Hudson Valley Moulard Duck ($28) is cooked to perfection and falls right off the bone.   The menu also offers a mix of Italian and Spanish styled dishes, including Grilled Chorizo, Wild Mushroom Risotto and Sautéed Wild Merluza.  The restaurant also offers an affordable $28 Prix Fixe menu on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

Danny Brown is an unexpected pleasure in a place you wouldn't expect it to be.  But as a local to Forest Hills, I'm certainly glad it's here!
