UPDATE: Frenchette captures James Beard award for "Best New Restaurant."

Two chefs, who met at Daniel, now operate their own restaurant in TriBeCa. Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson's Frenchette is an all-day French bistro where you can drop in for breakfast or cocktails. Dinner brings hors d'oeuvres like guinea hen with fioe gras; soft scrambled eggs with Peconic escargots and butter garlic; and Pleasant Bay oysters with mignonette sauce and sausages called chipolatas. There are braised celery hearts with marrow and charred carrots with labneh and za'atar. Larger plates include duck frites, whole turbot for two with buttered potatoes, stewed rabbit with morels and Cote de Boeuf, a 50-day dry aged rib eye with maître d’ butter for two. From the bar comes High Balls and Cocktails like Death In The Afternoon made with absinthe, lemon and champagne, and the Spritzette with vergano americano and pet’nat, a naturally fizzy wine that pre-dates champagne. Cheers!
