Guastavino's is located in the base of the 59th Street bridge. It's a beautiful space with vaulted ceilings and upscale crowd. Be sure to stop at the bar. It will make you feel like a million bucks. Prices are high, but live a little. The restaurant itself has some hits and misses. It took a good half hour for the appetizers to arrive and long enough for our waiter to offer us complementary glass of wine. "Trouble in the kitchen," we were told. As for the food, we give Executive Chef Daniel Orr a "B+." The mozzarella, proscuitto & basil pannini appetizer was good but small for the price. The asparagus vinaigrette was a tad limp. But the marinated pork chop with potato puree and crispy onions was delicious, as was the chilled lobster. $50-$75 per person. Major credit cards accepted. Reservations suggested, but we walked right in.
