Cititour Review:

There's something about cinnamon buns that instantly put a smile on your face.  For nut lovers it might be the sugar roasted pecans piled on thick.  For others it's the sweetness of raisins. And then there are others, like myself, who like their buns big and fluffy, unadulterated by nuts or raisins.  Buns laced with just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar to make them sweet, but not too sweet.

We found them all at Jane's Sweet Buns, a tiny bake shop all dolled up in the East Village with bright pink chairs outside and friendly service inside.  Jane Danger, the former mixologist at Cienfuegos, is the brains behind the desserts which she is spiking with a bit of booze.  There's the Old Fashioned bun with pecans, bourbon and Angostura bitters; The Harvey Wallbanger, a pound cake punched up with Galliano and orange, and the Bocce Ball made with Amaretto, olive oil, sea salt and tarragon.

But all good things come at a price.  We spent $11 for two perfectly-prepared cinnamon buns, a bit steep, but given the quality of the ingredients and taste well worth splurging on.  And while one cinnamon bun is big enough for two, chances are you are not going to want to share.
