Rising above downtown Brooklyn is a new Asian rooftop beer garden. Kimoto boasts panoramic views inside and out, and hundreds of plants to make you feel right at home. Twenty different craft beers from Asia and the U.S. are being offered. There's Ginga Kogen from Japan, Lion Stout from Sri Lanka, Lucky Budha form China and Thai Wheat from Jonas Bronck's Beer Company In the Bronx. At the bar, Dave Danger (formerly of Jeffrey's Grocery) is using Asian spirits and house-made syrups in creative cocktails with names like Tranquility and Peat's Dragon. Chef Brian Tsao's menu offers creative Asian riffs on American favorites. Spicy wings get a gochujang BBQ glaze. Beef brisket sliders hook up with aged cheddar and kimchi, while his signature Bulgogi beef tacos are true winners (just ask Bobby Flay). Or, share a plate of Tokyo-inspired Shibuya Disco Fries loaded up with brisket, daikon chili, jalapenos, garlic sour cream and sriracha.
