If you are near Rockefeller Center and in need of an inexpensive meal, Kitto, is a good choice. It located on East 48th Street, in a space it shares with a burger joint. The Tonkotsu Ramen makes a good first impression. The spicy broth hiding a tangle of noodles surrounded by large slices of tender pork belly. Further digging turns up sautéed mushrooms, corn kernels, pickled cabbage and fresh scallions on top. It's a dish that will keep you slurping. Kitto also sells pork buns and beer, along with rice bowls filled with teriyaki chicken, spicy pork and katsu with curry. The setting is modern with friendly service.
