The tastes of Taiwan emerge at Meet Fresh in the East Village. This Taiwanese dessert spot featuring "the private desserts of sister and brother Fu" is always bustling. The desserts are not what most Americans might expect. Here flavors are drawn from things like barley, beans, sweet potatoes and taro. There are bubble teas and others filled with icy glass jelly, along with hot almond soup. Shaved ice is also a star including one massive plate for sharing that includes almond and egg puddings, mini taro balls, jelly noodles, mochi and ice cream.
