Cititour Review:

Looking for a new food adventure, I found myself inside Old Town Hot Pot.  A hot pot is a traditional Chinese meal that begins with soup as its base.  First you choose a broth ranging from clear to spicy.  I picked chicken.  Next, a pot of broth is brought to the table and the heat is turned up.

Now it's time to get down to business.  A bowl of fresh veggies arrives filled with three kinds of mushrooms, potato slices, carrots, corn, Bok Choi and Chinese cabbage.  There  are also crab sticks, glass noodles and two types of tofu.  You can stop at this point for $12 per person ($20 for two) or go for the gusto by adding thinly-sliced ribeye or lamb (add $8-$14), or maybe some fish or shrimp balls.  Being a meat lover I opted for steak which turned out to be an excellent choice.

There is just one more step to go before you can start eating.  You need to pick a sauce, which again ranges from the fairly benign to the fiery hot.  I chose a traditional Beijing sesame sauce. Now, you can finally start cooking your vegetables and meat by dipping them into your hot pot.  A mini strainer is used to pull the pieces out and dunk them in the awaiting sauce.   Just swirl and eat, and you have a delicious Chinese meal dating back to Genghis Khan.

The folks at Old Town Hot Pot couldn't have nicer and more helpful.  It was a real treat.

This concludes my food adventure.
