Cititour Review:

Picket Fence is a brunch and dinner spot along Cortelyou Road in Ditmas Park with a pleasant, cozy atmosphere.

Compared to nearby "The Farm" they are far less packed during brunch hours, however, their semi-upscale meals combined with their "homey" decor make them an interesting contender against neighboring locations with similar fare including The Farm, Castello Plan, and Purple Yam. On warm days, they open up their backyard patio which is absolutely adorable with a touch of romantic. When the sun goes down, the yard illuminates with electric candlelight, creating the type of atmosphere that could keep you there for hours.

They are most worth visiting for their brunch. Why? For one, their choices are fresh, healthy and something a little different. Their baked eggs are certainly a crowd pleaser ($10) and I very much enjoy pancakes ($9+). They also serve unlimited mimosas for $9 during brunch. The place does not serve any liquor so mimosas is the best way to go during brunch.  If you visit for brunch on a Sunday, you should also check out the farmers market right across the street which has a lot of fresh vegetables, organic meats and other interesting goodies depending on the season.

On a non-brunch visit, they have excellent burgers ($10+) and yummy smoked gouda mac and cheese ($7) also sweet potato fries ($4). During dinner they serve popcorn before the meal (a nice shift from the usual bread basket). They are always updating their menu to include new creations which is a good reason to revisit every so often.

As far as drinks go, they have some decent beers but they will cost you. If you visit on a Thursday, you get half priced wine.

And, of course, we can't forget their desserts which will be sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Try the banana pudding ($7) or their homemade cheesecake which comes with marinated strawberries ($7).

Overall, Picket Fence is a decent place along the Cortelyou Road strip in Ditmas Park serving comfort food with an unpretentious yet upscale twist.
