Cititour Review:

Famous first for her small store selling her homemade baked goods and jams, Sarabeth Levine is now a brunch legend in Manhattan. The high-ceilinged dining room and huge French doors overlooking Madison Avenue have made this the place to be on Sunday mornings, so be sure to reserve your seat.

As far as the menu is concerned, the choices are nearly impossible: the “three bears' style” porridge offers something for everyone, whether you're Baby Bear, with milk and honey (7.00) or the Big Bad Wolf, the star of the four dishes, with wheatberries, cream, butter and brown sugar (8.00). The New York brunch staple of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon—Goldie Lox—is also a treat (15) and is served with a choice of one of many baked goods on offer, accompanied with Sarabeth's famous preserves.

On the lunch side, the Velvety Cream of Tomato Soup (8.50) is so well-loved you can buy a jar of it at the takeout counter. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich (19.50) is generous and quite tasty as well, and the meal salads are large and quite filling.

Dinner options include everything from Maine lobster roll (23.00) to One Great Burger (15.00). There is also a prix fixe menu at $30.00 and an impressive wine list. Reserve the cozy alcove booth for a special occasion dinner with a small group.

Sarabeth's still retains its bakery counter, a small reminder of its humble beginnings, so pick up some delicious cookies or ice cream to take home with you, or reserve a seat for afternoon tea and sample a variety of cookies, scones and clabber with your choice of Harney & Sons loose teas.
