Cititour Review:

It's hard to believe that anything could be better than The Shake Shack in Madison Square Park.  That is until the arrival of Shake Shack II on the Upper West Side.  Located near the American Museum of American History, the place is packed on weekends with a line out the door, but weeknights are far more tolerable.

We arrived on a Tuesday evening at around 7pm, the lines were short and there were still some tables available on the main floor, as well as on the lower level which resembles a rec-room with cafeteria-style seating.

We ordered the ShackBurger ($4.75).  I don't know if it was me, but the patty seemed bigger than the original and a lot juicier.  It was gone in literally ten seconds flat.  The cheese fries ($3.75) are terrific; Yukon Golds smothered in a gooey mix of cheddar and American cheese. It's a yummy Yukon mess worth licking your fingers for.  The fresh squeezed lemonade ($2.50) is also a nice refreshing touch, as is the free water near the counter.

There are lots of other choices to be had at Shake Shack, like a double stack 'shroom burger ($8.50), a New York Dog with Schaller and Weber kraut ($3.75), a Shacky Road Concrete ($6.25) which consists of chocolate custard with Valrhona chocolate crunchies, marshmallow and almonds.  You'll also find shakes and floats on the menu.  Adults might want to opt for a Shackmeiter Ale on tap ($5.25), or maybe a glass of Shack Chardonay ($6).

We found everything at Shake Shack, from the food to the giggling young girls behind the counter, to be a delight.   As for complaints on some blogs that the place is packed with too many sceaming kids... Tough!  Afterall, if parents can feed their youngins a top quality lunch or dinner for under ten bucks, I say go for it!
