I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a good falafel and Taim, on Mulberry Street, knows how to do them right. The sandwiches are loaded up with deep fried falafel balls smothered in tahini sauce. While there are a few varieties of falafel offered, I tend to gravitate toward the "traditional" green made with parsley, cilantro and fresh mint. Other varieties include a mildly-spiced harissa, and a red falafel made with roasted peppers. The sandwiches, which are served on either a wheat or white pita, are packed with Israeli salad and a nice helping of hummus. For $6.25 it is an entire meal and well worth the price.
Also on the menu is Sabich, a sandwich made with sliced eggplant and an organic egg. You can also get sandwiches made with your choice of either hummus or babaganoush. Or, go for a salad. The Greek salad is powered up with feta and kalamata olives, while a quinoa salad is paired with chopped kale. You will also find Moroccan-style carrots sauteed in garlic, cumin and paprika. Homemade sodas and signature smoothies are also available, including one made with cantaloupe and ginger.
Taim is a wonderful place for foods that taste great and are great for you.
