Modern Chinese comes to the Village with the arrival of Uncle Ted's. The space is bright and airy with blonde wood tables, fabric wall coverings and a large sharing table up front. A white bar in the center separates the two dining areas. The food is a mix of classics like sesame shrimp toast, honey spare ribs and Moo Shu pork, mixed in with some modern takes, like Ted's filet mignon egg roll and tasty braised duck dumplings that are as lovely to look at as they are to eat. In fact, you will find a full line of dim sum at very reasonable prices ($4-$6) and larger plates of Sha Cha Crispy Duck ($16), half roast chicken with pickled mustard greens ($15), dry sauteed pork belly ($16) and sauteed baby spinach with crab meat ($19). There's also a large number of vegetarian dishes and ways to create your own healthy combinations. Owner Ted Chang is paying tribute his Chinese roots with a look to the future.
