Cititour Review:

For a colorful array of pan-Asian flavor (in the vegan variety,) you’ll be hard pressed to find a better spot than Wild Ginger, located on Bedford Avenue at N. 5th Street in Williamsburg.  This menu breaks the stereotype that vegan foods must be flavorless and unfilling.  The dishes here are filling without being heavy, and will leave you feeling healthy and energetic.

The atmosphere is tranquil, with dim lights and a hint of Asian décor that give it a Zen-like quality.  You will be welcomed by a cluster of delicate flowers on your table, and friendly, prompt service.

The lunch special (noon-4:30) is really worth your dollar—you get a delicious bowl of miso soup, a spring roll, brown rice and your main dish, all for just $7.  Try accenting your meal with one of the unique beverages offered—such as a carrot-apple-ginger-beet juice or an avocado soymilk smoothie.  The tea variety is just as unique, including ambrosia white plum and red lavender.

A good starter is the pumpkin soup or the green papaya salad (comes with chili lime dressing,) though the main portions come with miso soup or a salad and are big enough to fill you.  Two excellent dinner options are the Sweet Citrus Soy Protien with green kale and almonds (for those with a sweeter palate), and the Basil Soy Protein with zucchini, asparagus and bell peppers for those who prefer something with a little zing.  Really, you can’t go wrong with this menu, and will find yourself making many happy returns to try every dish this little gem has to offer.
