I might not have been on a date when I first arrived at Winston’s Champagne Bar, but I sure wish I had been. The sexy, intimate room enveloped me instantly. The room is very small, yet swanky and perfectly decorated. The staff are very happy to assist you, if you arrive accompanied by a reservation. Though the spot is very new, having opened up in September, the air of a ’scene’ is already taking form.
The 1940’s inspired bar is equipped with a bright yellow piano at the front of the space, filling the room with vintage jazz. The minute bar is cloaked in metallic walls, mirrors, and large chandeliers. Tucked underneath the balcony (accessible via a black winding staircase) is the bar and a couple of tables. It was perfect for our small party.
We found ourselves choosing from a list of over 100 choices of champagne, available by the glass and bottle. Though the lounge boasts a vintage bubbly from 1966, we opted for more moderately priced drinks. However, it is Park Avenue and the Winston’s calls the Gansevoort home, so make sure you have some cash flow before you meet your friends here, or that special date.
