Summary:

Angelo & Maxie’s® Steakhouse is a full-service restaurant renowned for its thick, juicy high quality steaks and inviting 1930s atmosphere; the restaurant emphasizes friendly service and American abundance at moderate prices. The Original Angelo & Maxie’s is located at 233 Park Avenue South in Manhattan, on the corner of 19th Street and Park Avenue South in the city’s Flat Iron District. Remodeled from former Italian restaurant Canastel’s, the 210-seat Angelo & Maxie’s underwent $1.5 million in renovations before opening in late 1996. Designed by restaurant architect Morris Nathanson of Morris Nathanson Design, the restaurant is a celebration of warm woods and glowing bronzes in an Art Deco style. The menu, split into two categories—Meat and Not Meat—offers a broad spectrum of oversized steaks, salads, fish and chicken. Diners can choose from a wide array of items—from Cold Steamed One-pound Maine Lobster Cocktail to 28-ounce Ribeye Steak, Grilled 10-ounce Yellowfin Tuna, and Three-pound Whole Roasted Chicken with Garlic Lemon Black Pepper Crust. The average check at Angelo & Maxie’s ranges from $35 to $40 per person.

great steakhouse
I have been to R. Cris, Smith and Wolensky, Post House, Luger's, Morton's over the past ten years. Started going to Angelo Maxi's in 1998 and nothing beats this place. Triple decker seafood appetizer and porterhouse steak better than any place I have been. Crab in appetizer tops any other crabmeat anywhere. Bar a lot of fun with real atmosphere. A little crowded sometimes but worth putting up with. If you did not like this place you were in a bad mood when there.
