Review:

Bar BQ is probably the closest you'll come to a honky tonk bar in Brooklyn. Here the bourbon is flowing, music is played loud and the barbecue is good and cheap. Located on the outskirts of Park Slope, Bar BQ feels like it's been around forever. From its corrugated metal front to its ceramic pigs and oversized pictures of the Brooklyn Dodgers, it is instantly comfortable. Pints of beer and large portions of cue don't hurt either. But don't expect anything fancy. Here the food is served on paper plates (and not the sturdy kind), along with plastic utensils straight out of the plastic wrap. But it's what's sitting on the plate that makes it worth the trip. You'll find tasty fall-off-the bone baby back ribs and pulled pork that is moist and tender served with slices of white bread (think Wonder Bread). The kitchen also turns out brisket, hot wings and smoky sausages. You'll want to douse 'em with the house special BBQ sauce, or the homemade hot sauce, green or red; both offer plenty of heat. If you still have room left, you can cool off with a slice of tangy key lime pie for dessert. Or you could wash it down with bourbon. There's are more than 30 varieties with names like Pappy Van Winkle's and Rebel Yell. What we like most about Bar BQ is the crowd and friendly staff. Think fun, not pretentious. On our last visit our waitress was literally 9 months pregnant and about to give birth in two days, yet she couldn't have been more charming and cheerful, which made for a wonderful experience. And that's really what it's all about isn't it - good people, good food... good times!

Sweet
Decent barbeque in large portions with good prices. The pulled pork and slaw are killer. Lots of beers and a huge selection of whiskies which are generously poured. Hardwood floors, friendly service and hicory scented air. What more could you want fram a bar?
