It's 1am in the East Village with just a few bucks in your pocket. You're starving! Where do you go? One sure bet is Bereket. This Turkish kebab house is open 24 hours and known for dishing out large portions at low prices.
The lamb shish kebab is a favorite. At six dollars it could serve as a full meal, loaded with chunks of tender meat, lettuce, tomato and a special sauce. The Doner kebab is another favorite. It's a mix of lamb and beef and perfectly spiced.
Vegetarians can also find plenty to feast at Bereket, including humus, babaghannush and falafel sandwiches for just $3. There are also grape leaves stuffed with rice, raisins, peanuts and herbs.
Desserts are only for people with extreme sweet tooths. Enjoy!
