Summary:
The salsa beat is alive and well as the Copa makes a big comeback. The Copacabana, a sprawling four-floor club, reopening in the heart of Times Square on 47th Street near Eighth Avenue.
The club, with its signature white palm trees, features a posh dining room on the first level where you can dine on Nuevo Latino classics by chef Alex Garcia while sipping some mojitos. Or, head upstairs where a $20 cover charge lands you on one of the city's hottest dance floors. Salsa, merengue and mamba the night away to the beat of the 15-piece Copacabana Orchestra. The club will also feature live entertainment and a rooftop tapas bar.
It also marks the return of the steamy Copa Girls (and guys) with their dazzling dance moves. The $4 million remake of this 1941 classic night club is sure to leave its mark on the city for many years to come. The new owners are looking for a mature clientele (25 and over) with a dress code that will be strictly enforced. - Thomas Rafael
