A New Standard for Deli
Lansky's opened on the Upper West Side with little fan fare. In fact the windows were papered for almost a year, and then one day they quietly removed it, the results had become a favorite quickly amoungst the neighborhood. The weekend brunch is packed with all the neighborhood. The rest of the week. You can dine on some the best deli anywhere. The food is honest, very reasonable and homey, just like my "bubby" made. The benchmark for all deli's is the pastrami, here it is juicy, warm and huge, and at 9.95 unreal. The coleslaw is addictive, and they are happy to refill on the request. I asked about the pickles, they informed me that they were Gus's from the lower East side, need I say more. The burger are fantastic, the meat is succulent, huge and for me has no peers. They deep fry a foot long dog which they offer with numerous toppings, wow! They have an whole apple backed in pastry and served warm with a vanilla custard sauce, it brings tears to my eyes. When you savor every bite here, you question what are the other"Jewish" deli's doing, maybe they should wander back to Columbus Ave and find their soul, this is truly a "joint" with a huge soul, a place that real cares and I love it.

Its the best deli in the city
Yes, I know those are big words, but they really are. I have been there many many times. The prices are ridiculously reasonable& the food addicive and amazing. I am not exaggerating, the chicken in a pot is fantastic, the pastrami is the best in NY, and the cheescake is truly my favorite. You have to try the kreplach soup, and the brisket dinner. The cheese blintzes are thick and creamy. The cheeseburger, hands down, in my top 10 in NYC. AND...deep fried hot dogs...need I cay more?

First time is a charm!
Just moved to the UWS, and ask my neighbors where to eat. Everyone is talking about this new "Jewish" style deli, never eaten in one. Decided to try, and it was terrific, in fact I am now addicted. I have been back several times, the brunch is packed, wonderful, and it seems where you go to meet the neoghborhood. Everyone know each other. Other times you will enjoy a great matzo ball soup, pastrami sandwich that is too big for me, and for under 10 buck, a great bargin. They have pre-packed foods in the front for you to grab and run, great idea. Love my new neighborhood, and love Lanskys

super food.....super value
Big deli fan, in past years I have found the "Jewish" delis have become a cliche, sad places that for the most part have become tourist traps. Finally a new one has emerged on the scene, fresh, new, service is warm, friendly and the food is really good. I mean really good! Homey, big portions, Lansky's has "feel good" food, and at very reasonable prices. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, and everything I have had has been great. Don't miss the following; the overstuffed sandwiches, matzo ball soup, potato knish and delicious banana pudding, which they highly recommend, good choice. They also have the best brunch on the UPW. This place makes me really happy, and that is not something I've said at the latest new "hyped up" restaurants.

love to eat in, but great to take out!
I have dined here on many.many occassions, evern though it is only two months old. But don't miss the food they have to go. They have a whole roasted chicken with sides for 12.98, and they also have something they call TV Dinner, great idea. Has all tthe trimmings for 9.95. I tried one with stuffed cabbage, was wonderful. It also comes with rehaating instructions. And don't miss their bagel chips at the counter before you leave, very addictive. Have in or take out, simply great

Like going home!!
The minute you walk in a half. A dozen people greet you. The place is old world, with the back plush and rich, in fact there is a large, beautiful stainglass ceiling. What you get when you order is the best deli food anywhere. When I ate the matzoh ball soup, I had to look into the open kitchen to see if my mother was working part-time ther. The sandwichws are huge, and juicy. The burger's are the best I have had recently. The desserts are to die for, I had a rice pudding with rum and orange, not typical for the other declineing delis. Service is warm and efficient. What makes this all too good to be true is the price, it is hard to spend more than twnety bucks here. And they also deliver. I hope they last, menu is large and I can stuff my face three times a week, and never get tired of it. It defintely is a home for me, and will become your home too

Like Going Home
This place has been opened a few weeks, I have been there numerous times, and if feels like I am a child going home, the cooking reminds me of mom. The staff is so warm and accomodating, the hostess comes around and offers you a sampling of a new creation, you go to the deli counter, and they offer you some of their delicious chopped liver. There is a wonderful case that holds so many wonderful cakes, pies and sweets. My mom has been gone for a long time.....but this is such a nice substitution.

Holy Knish
Read some blogs that they had resentment that the owner wasn't Jewsih, not sure but love this place. If he isn't...get over it. Prices are unbelievable. The food at worst is very good, and sometimes great. Don't miss the lamb shanks that come with a new version of perogi's, very clever. The bread pudding is too good, and dangerous to my health. Nice mixed crowd, and fun to boot!!!

Great new addititon to UWS
Visited it the first week the first week they opened, wasn't great. Went back twice recently and it seems they have put it together. Everything I have tried is outstanding. The prices seem to good to be true, we will see if that remains, but for the time being, the place is really busy and the food is terrific. Don't miss the fried foot long with many toppings they call a "devil dog". The rice pudding with orange and rum is to die for, and they have a whole roasted chicken for 12.95 for you to take home, just what we all need to keep in our fridge. Great improvement in short order

Amazing
Just finished dinner here and couldn't wait to tell everyone, the food is just great. I had a kreplach soup that was the best. The knish was delicious and the cheesecake is to die for. We all tried different sandwiches, all very good. The cole slaw is terrific, and the old movies playing on the t.v.'s is fun. The prices make it cheaper than cooking at home. Lansky's is less than a month old, and already rates an amazing from me!!!

Puzzling
I sat down to write about my experience at this new restaurant, and noticed some of the past opinions written here....very puzzling. I thought the place was great, and the prices are unbelievable. I dont know where the people who wrote the negative reviews ate, it wasn't here. It seems like these people have an "ax to grind", rather than an honest opinion. Saw no dwarf. Dont avoid the best maztzoh ball soup, very good deli sandwiches, crisp delicious cole salw, and scrumptious cheese cake.

Worst food this side of The Hudson
How can someone open a restaurant in 2008 Manhattan and think they're gonna pull the wool over anyone's eyes? I won't go into what I had because just the thought of it is nauseating. But let's just say that this place never should have opened. The filthy, greasy windows within one week of opening, dwarf handing out menus on opening day (sorry, but that little scheme was tactless), and twice when I called for delivery I was put on hold so long that I had to hang up, rates Lansky's an F.

best matzoh ball soup in the city
I eat here the past evening and wow! Thw matzoh ball soup was delicious, light and fluffy. The pastrami was moist and great. The food from the kitchen is unlike any other deli I have ever been to. The prices are so reasonable that this place is a must. "Jewsih"delis are my passion and this tops the list

The pastrami tasted like Boars Head baloney. I checked the display case up front, Jewish deli from Armour??!! I don't think so. We badly need a real Jewish style deli on the Upper West Side. If this is Jewish style the Pope is the Grand Rabbi of Rome. Very disappointing.

food was a step above uneatable. Turkey was not fresh roasted turkey but proceesed meat Boar's head or something. This is not was you expect from an "old world deli" Chicken in the salad was dry, and tasteless
