We went to Ressie Mae's with one thing in mind - chicken n waffles. This meal, guaranteed to clog your arterties, combines breakfast and dinner.
The Belgian waffles are cooked up fresh as you wait. Add a crispy deep-fried chicken leg on top, some butter and lots of maple syrup, and for just over 7 bucks, you have yourself quite a filling meal. We loved it.
Ressie Mae's is also known for other soul classics like barbecue ribs ($18 per slab), fried whiting ($7.50), pan-seared catfish ($9.50) and smothered pork chops ($7.95). Add a side of collard greens, grits, mac & cheese and candied yams ($2.95 sm/$7.95 lg).
On the dessert menu, you'll find coconut pineapple cake ($3.50) and banana pudding with Nilla Wafers ($3).
Ressie Mae's is dishing up good old fashioned southern cooking with a whole lotta soul!
