Yet another triumph for restauranteur, Danny Meyer. The mind behind Union Square Cafe and Gramercy Tavern travels to India with Tabla. Top choices from the three course menu: stuffed red pepper and spicy crab cakes as starters. For main dishes: crispy halibut and the cod entree (both are very delicate). For the wrapup: the apple tart is out of this world, so is the cranberry tart.
There's also a tasting menu. The food is served in a very beautiful room with jewel tones, rich woods and very flattering lighting. It's a busy place, but the tables are well spaced and you won't feel at all hurried by the attentive wait staff. This is a winner. Dinner for two from the three course menu: about $144.
A bottle of dry champagne added another $65 dollars to the bill. Reservations accepted 4 weeks in advance. Major credit cards.
