Summary:
There are restaurants that try to generate buzz. And restaurants that just "buzz" on their own. The Dutch in SoHo is one of them.
Chef Andrew Carmellini, whose stints in New York included such fine dining establishments as San Domenico, Lespinasse and Cafe Boulud, has opened his own restaurant. It's an all-American spot inspired by local cafes and corner taverns, and the crowds are already forming.
Dinner begins with snacks like little oyster sandwiches and spicy goat pie. Or, pay a visit to the Oyster Room for Wellfleets from Maine, and Blue Points from New York. You'll also find peel n' eat prawns and seafood ceviche with mango, lime and red onion.
But it doesn't stop there. Carmellini is offering up tantalizing dishes like smoke ricotta ravioli, stuffed trout with bacon and mustard, and hot fried chicken with collards, mashed and honey butter biscuits made to order. On the dessert menu you'll find Devil's Food cake with White Russian ice cream, and sticky apple cake with toasted pecans.
Let the buzz begin! - Thomas Rafael
