Executive Chef Matt Hyland (of Emmy Squared) is offering grilled pizza, seafood and more at Violet on East 5th Street between Avenue A and B. Named after the state flower of Rhode Island, Violet focuses on the flavors and abundant seafood of New England and Rhode Island. Grilled pizzas ranged from The Classic made with four cheeses to Atwells with broccoli and pistachio pesto. There is Dune Duck with clams, hoisin & duck prosciutto, and Beach Vibes with tahini, garlic confit hon shimeji and caramelized onions. Other dishes include Bone Marrow with miso, trout roe, grilled bread and herb salad; Stuffies with linguica, pretzel stuffing and uni; Pork and Duck Tortellini; and Grilled Shrimp with Calabrian Sichuan butter and cilantro. The restaurant offers a mix of bar and table seating, with a chef''s counter overlooking the open kitchen.
