Cititour Review:

Brad's is a restaurant with a story.  It's a tribute to a dad who quit Columbia University to start a family in Syracuse where he operated Brad's Brews, Victuals and Stews.  Now, in his dad's honor, Jeremy Wladis, whose restaurants include Campa, Nonna and Firehouse, has opened Brad's Coffee Brews, Sandwiches and Stews in the heart of Greenwich Village.  And like his dad choosing a spot near a university, in this case NYU.

The restaurant is filled with lots of bric-a-brac, plywood tables and psychedelic signs that harken back to a time of peace and love - when the "in" crowd could be found at places like Woodstock.  While prices don't date back to the '60s they are sure to appeal to cost-conscious students.

Toasted subs start at $4.95 and offer hearty portions of meatball parm in a rich marinara, as well as a tuna and turkey melts.  There are pizzas made with whole wheat crust ($6.95 to $9.95) with toppings like duck confit, BBQ chicken, fig and prosciutto.  Brad's is also turning out smoothies and free trade La Colombe coffee.  We were greeted with prompt service and a smile.

Dad would be proud.
