After 109 years, Lombardi’s now has a second location. And while there is plenty of competition around, there is one thing the others cannot claim, being the first pizzeria to open in the United States. The new spot can be found in an old bank building in Chelsea, offering lots of old world charm with crystal chandeliers, red booths and red checkered tablecloths. There's also a full bar. On the menu, look for a selection of salads and appetizers, like bruschetta, and meatballs in pompodoro sauce. Pies include the Margherita, White Pizza, Prosciutto & Arugula and Lombardi's Famous Clam Pie topped with baby clams, garlic, oregano, romano cheese, black pepper, fresh parsley and a flowered lemon. Unlike the original Lombardi’s, which has a coal-fired oven, the new location uses a brick oven. It also accepts credit cards, unlike the original, which remains cash only.
