Cititour Review:

The battle for the city's best lobster rolled just intensified.  It began years ago between Mary's Fish Camp and Pearl's, which offer healthy-sized rolls, smothered with mayo and served with a heaping side of fries. Then Ed's Lobster Bar happened on the scene, and this past summer Red Hook Lobster Pound started drawing raves for its lobster rolls at the Brooklyn Flea.

Enter Luke's, a new lobster spot in the East Village.

Luke's is far from flashy.  It's a small shack with seating for a just a few and a simple menu of lobster, crab and shrimp rolls.  Here the emphasis is on the lobster.  Owner Luke Holden, a former lobsterman from Maine promises the freshest lobster in the city at prices that don't break the bank.  And Luke delivers.

We tried one of Luke's lobster rolls and were mmm...mmming with every bite.  You see at Luke's you really get to taste the lobster ($14 for 4 oz/$8 for 2oz snack roll).  There's no mayo or celery to bog it down.  Just pure unadulterated lobster meat with a little bit of seasoning served on a no-frills hot dog roll.  It really is quite delicious.  Add some of Miss Vickie's Chips and some Maine root beer and you're set.  A trip to Maine without the trip.  Ingenius!
