Maggie's Place is a bustling pub in Midtown where you can lift a pint of Irish ale and are pretty much guaranteed a good time. It is also Midtown's oldest family-run restaurant and bar. Maggie's was opened in 1974 by Teddy and Maggy Whelan. Today their son, Martin, is running the place with the help of his brother, Mark, who gave the menu a fresh look. And it paid off.

The space is well designed with hardwood floors, a full bar and ample seating, including some terrace seating when weather permits. After work the place fills up with a lively crowd. Fourteen different beers are offered on tap, including Smithwick's ale and Harp Lager from Ireland. Another eighteen brews are sold by the bottle.

The menu offers a nice selection of pub standards like Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash, and Shepherd's Pie along with bar fare, including BBQ Pig Wings, Meatball Lollipops and Baby Back Ribs. If you're looking for something to put a bit more meat on your bones, try the steak dinner. Our NY Strip was cooked perfectly with a large side of whipped potatoes and grilled asparagus. Also available is Bell & Evans roasted chicken with sweet potato mash and a nice selection of burgers. We have Maggie's Place on our short list of popular NYC pub destinations.
