Cititour Review:

If you’ve ever gone to NYU or spent time in the Greenwich Village area then you probably already know about Mamoun’s Falafel. Mamoun’s opened in 1971 and is often regarded by locals to the area as one of the best deals around.  For only $3 you get one of the tastiest and most filling falafels in town. With great prices, Mamoun’s caters to the college town feel of Macdougal Street and is often a late night spot as it stays open deep into the night and early into the mornings, closing at 5am.

Aside from the usual go-to item, the falafel sandwich, the falafel platter is slightly more expensive at a still very affordable $5 and contains a salad as well as a whole package of pita bread, which most Falafel places usually skimp on. They also offer Chicken and Shawarma sandwiches and plated dishes for $6 and $11.50 respectively.

When it comes down to it Mamoun’s is a no frills type place where the workers are always quick and sharp. Since they don’t offer a large variety of items, orders are usually ready to go or are made within minutes. The biggest downside is that there are not many seats and the ones that they do have are usually occupied. The positive of that is that, if the weather permits, you can take your food to the scenic Washington Square Park and enjoy it there. Mamoun’s is a staple to New York City and is worth a try for it’s big taste and low price.
