Founded in 1968 by Mr. and Mrs. Chan, Mei Lai Wah began as a small Chinatown coffee shop and bakery created to share flavors from their hometown of Taishan, China. Mr. Chan brought his baking experience from Gum Moon Bakery, applying traditional techniques of dough, fermentation, and baking.
