Nickel & Diner is offering a new take on American classics. The restaurant, located on the border of SoHo and Little Italy, is bright and airy with a retro diner feel. A counter runs the length of the space along with individual booths inspired by the five & dime lunch counters of the past. On the menu, look for things like egg sandwiches with hickory smoked bacon, buttermilk pancakes, fried chicken and an assortment of burgers and sandwiches. Dinner brings smoked ham hocks, cavetelli gratin, seared diver scallops, grilled lobster and a dry-aged ribeye. Nickel & Diner is also focusing on locally sourced ingredients, including its use of Nobletree Coffee, based in Red Hook, Brooklyn for its coffee program.
