Cititour Review:

For generations of Seinfeld fans, Columbia students and Morningside Heights residents, Tom's Restaurant is a home away from home – the “local” that everyone wishes they had, where the waiters knows your name, and the food is generously portioned, reasonably priced, and the perfect example of what real New York diner food should be.

The menu is several pages long and includes all of the Greek and American specialties one would expect to find in a typical city diner: all-day breakfast 3-egg omelettes (from 7.50) and pancakes (5.90), burgers (from 6.25 with fries) and sandwiches, and of course, the obligatory gyro platter (8). Columbia students swear by the gravy fries (3.50), and it's no wonder, considering the greasy spoon is opened 24 hours from Thursday to Saturday, the perfect stop before heading home after a night out.

While Jerry and friends actually sat around a table inside a Hollywood studio, those looking for the comfort and homey feeling that the sitcom revealed are sure to find it at Tom's. Whether it's for a full meal or a classic New York City egg cream (1.75), Tom's is an Upper West Side staple that stays the same, despite the ever-changing city around it.
