Burger thrill-seekers are marking the arrival of the Umami Burger, a West Coast import, now in the heart of Greenwich Village. It's a bit more sophisticated than most burger joints with cushy red banquettes and table-side service. In other words, you don't have to grab a vibrator and wait at the counter for your burger to arrive. Here you will find the "5 Spice Burger" made with house ground duck, Chinese 5 spice, peach chutney and crispy duck skin on top. Yum! That might actually justify the $15 price tag. Then there is "The Original" smothered in caramelized onions, shiitake mushrooms, house ketchup and a parmesan crisp ($12), or go for the "Manly Burger" with beer-cheddar, bacon lardons and smoked-salt onion strings ($12). Also, keep an eye out for the "21-U Club." This burger gets an added burst of flavor from "Umami Dust," a mix of kelp, mushrooms and spices. As usual with trendy spots, be prepared for a wait of up to an hour during peak times just to get your foot in the door. - Thomas Rafael
