Details:

Edwin Bellanco, after having worked at such big-name restaurants as Gramercy Tavern and Bouley, has finally opened his own restaurant in Midtown with a contemporary American menu complete with a variety of intriguing combinations. The restaurant itself is decorated in white leather, teal and pale wood, with a modernist chicken-wire shaped motif on the walls and floor. There is a mezzanine overlooking the main dining room, and light floods the entire space. It's a unique locale with an equally unique menu. Lunch is designed with the businessman in mind. It includes chic plays on comfort food classics, like Pulled Pork Tacos with polenta tuile and tomato marmalade (15), as well as a decidedly non-comfort food choice: the foie gras terrine (18) with mustard. Second Courses – pastas and risottos – continue in this vein of chic elegance. There is Herb Risotto with shellfish and lobster sauce (12/24), and Ricotta Gnudi with black truffle pasta and parmesan (12/24). Main dishes hearken back to the updated comfort food with Lox and Latkes (20) served with caviar, a Black Angus Burger (18) with chipotle aoili, and Cod Chowder (24) with smoked oyster. Dinner options are similar to those served at lunch with the comfort food replaced by more elegant fare, like Cocoa Crusted Venison Loin (28) with lingonberry sauce. Also on offer is an extensive list of over 100 wines by the glass and by the bottle, as well as classic cocktails, dating back as far as 1790. - Emily Monaco
