If you ever feel like having tea poured by cheery servers with wings and glitter, then Alice’s Tea Cup is perfect for you. Famous for their scones as well as their wide variety of teas (which have a separate menu), Alice’s Teacup attracts families with young children, friends who want to go for brunch, and people wanting to have a short breather during the day.
Like its name suggests, this well-loved teahouse-cum-restaurant has an Alice in Wonderland theme, complete with photos of scenes such as the Mad Hatter tea party. The interiors and decor are spot on – teapots with porcelain cats, large goblets, ornate chairs, and tables with curiosities are its trademark. Even the bathrooms have not been spared the meticulousness of the pink and the cute.
Too busy to sit and dine? Next time you pass any of its Manhattan locations, buy a buttermilk scone and browse through its gift shop which sells whimsical merchandise. And yes, the girl at the counter wears fairy wings and has a bit of sparkle on her face.
