Summary:

Babushka Cafe is a sweet little Russian spot serving delicate dumpling and thin pancakes called blinis. Inside, brightly colored Russian nesting dolls, called Matryoshka, line the counter where the dumplings are prepared fresh. These bite-size treats come in an assortment of flavors; cheese, cabbage, potato, potato & mushroom, and sour cherry served with your choice of sour cream, dill, scallions and sauteed onions. We tried the cheese version which was wonderful. Prices range from about ten bucks for a regular order (eight dumplings), up to $15 for a larger order. Lunch brings a combo of borscht and dumplings. They also make blinis stuffed with chicken, farmer's cheese, mushroom or strawberry and homemade drinks like a refreshing cranberry mors. Nearby NYU students get a 10 percent discount. Service is friendly. - Thomas Rafael
