Review:

Beautiful open French doors catch your eye as you arrive at Bice. The sidewalk tables look inviting and the restaurant has an airy, welcoming decor. The location is ideal for people-watching while having drinks or a meal. Restaurants in the heart of midtown are often plagued with a tourist feel, but Bice is too charming to fall into that trap. A slightly more formal dining room is set behind the bar area. White cloths drape the tables and we choose to be seated outside. Bice is not a trendy restaurant looking to win over customers with cutting edge creations. The restaurant has a rich history dating back to 1926 in Milan and has made its mark with traditional Northern Italian fare. The wait staff is extremely attentive and friendly. The restaurant clearly has a strong repeat clientele as the staff comfortably greets and chats with people who seem to be regulars. The bread basket arrives filled with moist, sweet onion focaccia and small, fresh dinner rolls. I couldn’t help but glance at people’s entrees on the way to our seats. The food looked phenomenal and I focus on the menu. The lobster salad has mixed greens, steamed vegetables and a scallion dressing. The lobster salad offers a plentiful amount of sweet, supple lobster meat. The dressing flawlessly balances with the greens and vegetables in this lighter dinner option. A glass of crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio compliments my pasta entrée. The Parppardelle Al Telefono looks outstanding as it arrives on the table. The large ribbon pasta is folded with the perfect amount of freshly melted mozzarella cheese. Basil and freshly grated Parmesan cheese are delicately sprinkled on top of the light tomato cream sauce. The menu has a lot of diversity and the veal chop is said to be stupendous. Beware that prices are a bit steep. The pasta dishes were all in the mid to high $20s and the meat entrees are all about $40. Reservations might be a good idea as well if you are planning on eating at a prime hour. Bice truly seeks to have quality food and service. Stop by Bice for some authentic Italian cooking and prepare to be impressed.
