Most places with food this good are teeming with tourists, but for whatever reason, be it its quiet location tucked between 5th and Madison on the Upper East Side or else the loyal patrons who keep this gem to themselves, Caffe Grazie has been a local favorite—and little else—for years.
The fact that it hasn't attracted tourists is no statement with regards to the food or the service: even during the Recession, when many other longtime Upper East Side establishments have closed their doors, Caffe Grazie continues serving excellent Italian dishes using excellent local and organic produce... and mixing mean martinis.
The journey begins with the seasoned tomato paste and olive oil that comes with the homemade focaccia and continues through the meal. Order the Bruschetta Trio (12) for the table while you look over the menu. Be sure to pay attention to the specials—they're always incredible—but if none of them tickles your fancy, a good menu standby is the Lobster Ravioli (26) topped with a jumbo lump crab cake and a decadent sauce. For dessert, the Zeppole with two dipping sauces are swoon-worthy.
