In the shadow of the Manhattan Bridge is Celestine, an Eastern Mediterranean restaurant located in DUMBO. Executive Chef Garett McMahan is drawing inspiration from North Africa, the Mediterranean coast and the Middle East. Mezze brings couscous salad with dried fruits and toasted nuts, housemade flatbreads with Za'atar and marinated olives. Small plates to start include braised rabbit kugel, Turkish dumplings with short rib, and roasted baby squid & rock shrimp with chickpeas and watercress. Larger plates include wood roasted chicken, a grilled Niman Ranch Tri-Tip served with wild mushrooms, and whole grilled fish for two. Celestine also offers a nice assortment of locally brewed beers, including several from Brooklyn, along with classic cocktails, and wines from France, Italy and Spain. Celestine is located in a stylish, environmentally-friendly Leed Gold Certified building overlooking the East River.
