The flavors of Sardinia abound at Epistrophy on Mott Street in Nolita. Founded by three Sardinian friends, the goal was to bring authentic Italian comfort foods to the city using original family recipes. The menu features organic and locally-sourced ingredients for dishes like seared fresh baby squid with mushrooms and grass-fed veal and beef meatballs in a white wine sauce with lemon zest. There are pasta dishes like Pumpkin Tortellini in an orange and thyme sauce, and Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe made with fresh tagliarini, a trio of Italian cheeses and crushed black pepper. Main courses include braised short ribs in a red wine sauce with stone-ground polenta, and a Creekstone Hangar Steak with rosemary fingerling potatoes. The cozy space features white-washed brick and cafe-style seating with additional outdoor seating when the weather permits.
