Review:

Go Burger has all the trappings of a typical neighborhood burger spot: TV's all over, burgers made to your specifications, (The Build a Burger offers choice of bun, cheese, toppings like good caramelized onions and a sauce that can be house made smoked catsup or miso Russian dressing.) It's noisy and usually busy with people aged eight months to eighty.

Sandwiches are hearty whether you opt for the grilled chicken club with double smoked bacon or the double grilled cheese with both Fontina and Gruyere (double is a big word here.) The BLT is one of the "big" salads with various lettuces, mustard vinaigrette, hearts of palm, radishes, avocado, cucumber, corn, tomato and more although the name is a  tad misleading as there isn't any "B" as in bacon.  You can ramp it up with chicken, salmon or shrimp.

A classic wedge salad is large; the version of a pig in a blanket features a Kobe dog in pastry with spicy mustard to dip it into and there are "waffle bites", an app with cheddar, sour cream and pickled jalapenos. The Mac and Cheese Burger is not for the cholesterol-shy, featuring a burger topped with fried mac and cheese, caramelized onions, bacon and cheddar.

Milkshakes are headed with a large dollop of whipped cream. Besides the usual chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and black-and-white, you can select the Mocha Mudslide with coffee ice cream, chocolate syrup and Oreo cookies as well as adult floats with rum or bourbon added to the ice cream. Grandma's Treat blends Maker's Mark, caramel and vanilla ice cream, designed to fill granny's wildest imaginings.

There is a full bar including wine, beer, both draft and bottled, old-fashioned bottled sodas and special drinks such as a Ginger Margarita as well as house cocktails like the Dusk Til Dawn with tequila, Pomm syrup, grapefruit juice and sparkling wine. The bar area is up front; there are sidewalk tables on scenic Second Avenue in warm weather months and you can engage a private room for gatherings. Birthday parties for tots are popular and the restaurant does a brisk delivery business.

A caveat: ask your waitperson to be sure your order isn't over- salted. On a recent visit, my fries were so heavily coated with salt they were inedible and the burger was on the salty side as well, although that of my dining companion was just fine.

Sunday through Thursday Go Burger opens at 11:30 in the morning and stays that way until 10:30 PM; on Fridays and Saturdays, evening hours  extended until 11:30.
