Forget Mr. Softee, there's a new kid in town! Grom, run by gelato experts Federico Grom and Guido Martinetti, is turning out Turin-style gelato while winning praise and long lines in the process. It seems as though New Yorkers are willing to plop down just under five bucks for a small cup or cone of this decadent dessert that comes straight from Italy with flavors like; "Stracciatella" with Venezuelan chocolate chips and "Cassata Siciliana", combination of candied lemon, orange and cider. You'll also find plain "Vanilla", my favorite, made with vanilla beans from Madagascar and Tiramisu, a coffee flavored treat spiked with Ecuadorian chocolate chips. We'd wish Grom luck, but judging by the crowds, we don't think they need it. Now that's sweet!
