Press 195 is a cozy little restaurant in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It's the kind of place where you can stop by for a bite and socialize, or sit back with a glass of wine and read a paper (one will be provided if you don't your own). It also seems to run at a slower pace than the rest of the city. It's almost like a bit of Mayberry in Big Apple if there is such a thing. The menu features a long list of toasted panini sandwiches that arrive hot off the press. They're moist and gooey on the inside and very yummy. There's turkey with Monterey Jack and fresh cilantro; the house version of a "Cuban" with roast pork, swiss and pickle chips, and a pressed steak sandwich on homemade ciabatta bread with provolone, tomato, onions and a chimichuri sauce. Most ring up at under nine bucks and are served with a bag of chips. You'll also find a healthy assortment of salads, and even pressed pizza. But I only go to Press 195 for one thing and one thing only. It is something so New York and so good that it should be trademarked. I'm talking about the pressed knishes ($8). There is nothing better in this world (well, maybe a few things) than their Pastrami Knish. It's crispy on the outside with melted swiss and pastrami surrounded by soft potato filling. It really is "that" good!
