Sidecar, run by brothers John and Bart Coursey, is a the perfect spot to sit back and  enjoy a nice burger and beer (or maybe two).   That's exactly what we did on one lazy Sunday afternoon after hearing about the restaurant's "Cubano" sandwich, made famous on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."

The space itself has a nice laid back feel with its long wooden bar pumping out signature elixirs like "Rosemary's Baby" made with rosemary infused gin, cointreau, orange, lemon and seltzer or the "Old Cuban," a rum concoction made with mint, angostura bitters and cava.  While brother Bart tends bar, John is busy in the kitchen.

The restraurant is known for its fried oysters served with mixed greens and tartar sauce ($17), a Sidecar Club with turkey breast, bacon, gruyere and granny smith apples ($11), and its juicy cheeseburger topped with your favorite cheese and a side of crispy fries ($14).  Another favorite is the Brandade, a French dish combing salted cod with mashed potatoes, garlic and cream.  It's topped with a red onion escabeche ($10).

But I was here to try the Cubano, a monster size Cuban sandwich that could easily feed two ($17).  Its piled high with pulled porkand ham marinated in beer and topped with pickle slices and melted swiss on toasted ciabatta bread.  While some may scoff that it's not a true Cuban, it is a very tasty sandwich.

So, if you are looking for a nice bar with late night eats, you might want to hop a ride on the Sidecar.
