Restaurateur and eight-time James Beard award-winner Tom Colicchio has opened Small Batch at Roosevelt Field in Garden City. The casual dining concept is designed to celebrate Long Island's bounty with a 180-seat farmhouse-inspired space offering rustic American fare from a bustling open kitchen complete with a wood-fire grill. 100 bottles of wine, largely sourced from New York, will complement the food with most priced at under $100 per bottle. The menu includes starters like Honeycrisp Apple & Delicata Squash with Country Ham; Grilled Swordfish with Oven Roasted Tomatoes, Grilled Lemon and Rosemary; Long Island Crescent Pekin Duck, and Smoked Short Rib with Polenta and Pickled Cherry Peppers. Colicchio is quoted as saying, “Small Batch will go beyond being a great dining destination. Small Batch will connect with and support the Long Island food community."
