Reviews are mixed with regards to Spunto, the newest addition to the chain including Gruppo, Posto and Vezzo. In a city where everyone has a favorite pizza joint that's been around for generations, establishing oneself as a newcomer isn't easy, but Spunto sets itself apart with interesting and creative menu choices like BBQ Chicken, Marinated Roasted Pork or ChixPotle with chipotle chicken and pineapple. All pizzas are ultra-thin-crust, which is a high point for many who prefer Spunto to classic New York pies. Available as either a traditional white or nine-grain organic crust, these pizzas appeal to those still surfing the wave of the organic revolution, as well as those intrigued by a gourmet version of a classic. Others complain about the high prices: about 20 dollars for a 16-inch pie. For takeout, it may seem pricey, but to eat in at the café-style seating in the trendy West Village restaurant, it's worth it, especially given the high quality ingredients and wide choice of toppings; even the proponents for the old school style of a New Yorker's favorite meal might be swayed by this newcomer. -Emily Monaco
