Summary:

A taste of Taiwan awaits at 886, a modern Taiwanese restaurant on St. Marks Place in the East Village. Restaurant vets Eric Sze (Momofuku, The Tang), Andy Chuang (The Tang), and Stefani Kung are the forces behind 886 offering izakaya-style dining in a neon purple space. Look for playful dishes like "Three Cup" Glazed Chicken Wings, a Taiwanese take on buffalo wings, and Sausage Party with homemade pork sausage, sticky rice, peanuts and cured duck yolk. Other dishes include an oyster-shrimp omelette, pineapple & shrimp, and Drunken Clam with Thai basil.  886 is also offering a selection of beer, wine and sake "on tap" from Brooklyn Kura, New York's first sake brewery. >>

UPDATE: 886 is now offering lunch service. The daytime menu includes a small bite, a stir-fry, a main dish and a drink for $15, and is available Tuesday-Friday from 12pm-3pm. Delivery is also available on Caviar. Chef-Owner Eric Sze is also debuting  a new stir fry –– Taiwanese Sausage Rice, a street food staple that features grilled Taiwanese sausage, lightly cured egg yolk, and garlic lard over a bed of koshihikari rice. Other options include Honey Glazed Popcorn Chicken with szedaddy honey (Sze’s signature homemade spicy honey), white pepper, and fried thai basil; Crispy Silken Tofu with chili oil vinaigrette, grated daikon, and lime wedge; Lo Ba Beng with pork belly, rice, daikon, bamboo shoot, soft egg, cilantro; and Pineapple & Shrimp with kewpie mayo.
