What do you get when you combine hand-rolled kettle cooked bagels, hand-crafted cream cheeses and butters, along with French pressed coffee? You get Bagel Schmagel. The bagel shop, located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn has tall windows that let plenty of light in and an old fashioned blue and white awning giving it lots of charm. You'll also find a full salad bar and specialty sandwiches like the "Paulie D" made with a chicken cutlet, melted muenster and bacon on a toasted garlic bagel, and "The Genius," with smoked turkey, melted swiss, lettuce, tomato and russian dressing on toasted rye. They recently introduced a "rainbow" bagel. We tried it with strawberry cream cheese which was very good. Bagel Schmagel also offers hot and cold catering, panini platters and over-stuffed party heroes.
